Kuwait- Government departments' response to Audit's remarks increasing


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) By Haitham Saleh KUWAIT, July 4 (KUNA) -- The State of Kuwait has made tangible results in trimming fund squandering after government departments, in the 2014-2015 fiscal year, heeded plenty of the Audit Bureau directions.

The Bureau acting chairman, Adel Al-Saraawi, affirmed that the public authorities resolved issues, responding to 50 percent of the guidelines given by the supervisory office.

According to the Bureau report, these departments have taken measures by a proportion of 59 percent of the 915 remarks registered in the 2014-2015 fiscal year, with the percentage rising from 36 percent in the previous final account.

The Diwan in the 2013-2014 fiscal year recorded 689 remarks, 110 of which had been tackled. In the 2014-2019 fiscal year, there were 915 remarks; 274 of which were resolved.

The office officials have addressed the parliament, affirming growing cooperation on part of the government departments with the Bureau; tasked with ensuring proper spending of the State funds. The executive and legislative authorities have been coordinating to tackle irregularities, pin pointed by the Bureau in the budget spending.

It is guided by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah''s instructions to rationalize expenditure and diversify income resources.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Anas Al-Saleh has told the parliament that the government agrees with the Diwan on some issues and expressed pleasure that the authorities'' cooperation with the Bureau has noticeably increased.

Ahmad Al-Fares, Chairman of Kuwait Association of Accountants and Auditors, expressed satisfaction at the growing cooperation between the Bureau and the Government, saying that "the rationalization and combating squandering and corruption are proceeding on the right track."
