Microsoft adds solar energy to its range of priorities

(MENAFN) Microsoft has unveiled that it is joining forces with Dominion Virginia Power and the Commonwealth of Virginia to construct a 20 megawatts solar energy facility in Virginia.

In accordance, it's worth noting that Virginia earlier rejected Dominion's plans for building this solar farm last October because it hadn't considered third-party market alternatives.

The partners are not revealing how much they are investing in this new venture, but when Dominion 1st proposed this plant, the firm estimated it would cost nearly USD2,350 per kilowatt.

The new 20 megawatts solar farm should generate enough energy to power about 5,000 homes, plus Virginia will purchase the energy from the project to serve its own state agencies.
