Oman- ROP chalks out safety plan for holiday rush

Brig Gen Mohsen bin Ahmed al Abri, commander of the Dhofar Police Command, has said that the governorate is ready to cater to the huge tourist rush during the Eid holidays and ''the authorities are doing their best to ensure a trouble-free season''.

Salalah Tourism Festival 2016 begins on July 15 and the one-and-a-half-month event will attract thousands of visitors.

Brig Gen Abri said the Command in Dhofar has prepared a comprehensive traffic plan to facilitate safe and swift movement of visitors and residents during the festival. Police

Officers will be patrolling all roundabouts and traffic signals, he said. This is in addition to their presence at festival gates and parking lots.

He said as beaches attract lot of visitors ROP has taken a number of measures to ensure their safety. Extra patrols at beaches will be in place in addition to water rescue and civil defence teams, Brig Gen Abri added.

He cautioned the public to avoid any unruly behaviour. Speeding and unauthorised modifications on vehicles including painting them with different colours.

Tinting of window screens beyond the stipulated 30 per cent limit is also strictly prohibited by the law, he added.
