Omani poet meets Indian Prime Minister

An Omani''s wish to meet India''s Prime Minister Narendra Modi has come true. Sultan Ahmed al Mahmodi earlier wrote a poem praising Modi and asking him to visit Oman so they could meet. In April, Mahmodi was honoured by the Indian Embassy in Oman.

Recently, Mahmodi travelled to India on Modi''s invitation. A video shows Modi and Mahmodi greeting each other and sitting together. Mahmodi also reads out his poem to Modi.

The poem was inspired by an environmental programme launched by Modi called Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. It was launched in 2014 and involves cleaning streets as well as constructing new toilets. It was included in a film called Swachh Bharath, which was directed by Vijeesh Mani and produced by Soumit Jena.

Mahmodi is a filmmaker.
