Hyundai, KIA crush all rivals in SUVs' global market


(MENAFN) Hyundai and its sister KIA Motors Corp. witnessed collective sales of its five flagship sports utility vehicles exceed the joint 15 million mark worldwide last month, as the data showed.

The five models; Hyundai's Tucson and Santa Fe and Kia's Sportage, Sorento and Mohave, posted a total of 15.13 million in accumulated sales locally and overseas since their launches.

Hyundai's Tucson compact came on top as its sales hit 4.42 million as of end-Feb, with its global sales surpassing the 4 million mark last year 11 years after the 1st generation cars hit the road.

Additionally, the Santa Fe also reached the 4 million mark in sales at the end of last year, becoming the second South Korean SUV to achieve the milestone, following the Tucson.

All in all, throughout last year the combined sales of the five SUVs stood at 1.75 million units, representing 21.8 percent of 8 million in sales reported by Hyundai Motor Group.
