Saudi Arabia reaffirms commitment towards principles of UN Charter


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NEW YORK, July 1 (KUNA) -- Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its commitment and strict adherence to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, expressing honor to be part of the Human Rights Council in the service of the promotion and protection of human rights worldwide.

Saudi Mission to the UN said in a statement that "they were alarmed and outraged" at accusations, levelled by the Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, that the Saudi-led military operations in Yemen claimed civilian lives. The mission reaffirmed that Saudi Arabia and the Coalition have complied with international law at every stage in the campaign to restore Yemen''s legitimate government.

"Saudi Arabia''s main goal in the Yemen conflict is the protection of civilians and we deeply regret the loss of any civilian life," the statement added.

The Saudi statement confirmed that they have created an independent team of experts tasked with assessing such cases and developing enhanced targeting mechanisms to ensure the safety and protection of civilians. Moreover, the Permanent Mission of Saudi Arabia, led by Ambassador Abdullah Al-Muallami reiterated their commitment to enhancing the lives of the Yemeni people to ensure their dignity and quality of life through the dedicated work by King Salman Humanitarian and Relief Center.
