EU condemns Kabul attack against police cadets


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, June 30 (KUNA) -- The EU has condemned an attack against police cadets in Kabul on Thursday in which 30 people are reported killed and 50 injured.

"Many efforts are in place to build peace and security in Afghanistan, but the population and the national security services are still under threat," said an EU spokesperson for foreign affairs Maja Kocijancic in a statement late Thursday.

"In this last week of Ramadan, our thoughts are with all of those killed and injured today, as well as with the victims'' families, colleagues, and friends.

"The European Union will continue to stand with our Afghan partners and friends as they work to bring peace, stability and security to Afghanistan," she sadi. The statement noted that the Brussels Conference on Afghanistan, to be held on 4-5 October, will be a vital and complementary step for the EU and the international community in delivering on these commitments.
