Kuwait- KRCS distributes Iftar meals to Syrian refugees in E. Lebanon


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT, June 30 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) announced on Thursday that it handed out Iftar (fast-breaking) meals to Syrian refugee families in Zahla area, east of Lebanon.

In a statement to KUNA, Nabil Al-Hafedh, head of KCRS'' mission, said the society gave out more than 266 Iftar meals to Syrian refugees in Zahla in Beqaa governorate in eastern Lebanon.

He added that the humanitarian campaign that has been launched since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan will continue handing out meals, pieces of clothes for Eid al-Fitr and sweets to refugees across Lebanon.

He lauded cooperation between KRCS and the Lebanese Red Cross (LRC) in giving out aid, mainly in remote areas which have been hosting refugees.

Meanwhile, Youssef Boutros, LRC''s coordinator, commended the Iftar campaign carried out by the society during Ramadan every year, and the key role of Kuwaiti institutions in aiding refugees and the needy in Lebanon and other countries all over the world.

At the beginning of Ramadan, the society has launched the humanitarian campaign of distributing up to 30,000 Iftar meals, clothes of Eid al-Fitr and other aid to Syrian refugee families in Lebanon. (end) wsm.hm
