Japanese industrial production drops in May


(MENAFN) Japanese industrial production dropped in May for the first time in three months, while factory output declined 2.3 percent in the cited month.

Furthermore, the weak numbers come as a result of Japan's trade deficit in May, while retail sales come in flat.

Accordingly, the fall in industrial production in May expresses that the economy slowed in Q2 following an increase in GDP in Q1.

On the other hand, consumer prices dropped in April, with May figures on tap for Friday along with the Bank of Japan's.
