UAE- Abdullah bin Zayed attends honouring ceremony for Grade 12 toppers

ABU DHABI, 29th June 2016 (WAM) --- On initiative of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the group of Grade-12 top-achieving students of the 2015-2016 academic year were honoured today in a ceremony held by the Abu Dhabi Education Council and the Ministry of Presidential Affairs at Emirates Palace Hotel in the presence of sheikhs and senior officials.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler''s Representative in the Western Region offered 20 scholarships at Abu Dhabi University for twenty of the honoured students.

Some 150 male and female Emirati and expatriate students from public schools and applied technology institutes, including Emirati special needs students, were honoured at the ceremony.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi, Minister of Education; Dr. Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State; Dr Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Director of Abu Dhabi Education Council; Ahmed Al Hemairi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Presidential Affairs; Dr. Mohamed Al Baili, Deputy Vice Chancellor of the UAE University for Academic Affairs, officials and families of the students.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed met with the honourees at an iftar banquet following the ceremony to praise their excellence and dedication. He noted that they are a source of pride for the country, leaders and their families.

He expressed appreciation for the continuous support extended by the top leadership to education as a top priority.

Sheikh Abdullah said, "the UAE has an elite of students who represent its future. Education in the UAE receives generous support from President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan."

"Education is the foundation of nations. Our ambitious future plans are all focussed on education and promoting innovation and creativity among our students to achieve the highest results."

Sheikh Abdullah noted the efforts of education workers and the quality of education in the UAE which seeks to create an environment that attracts students by modern and innovation teaching methods.

He congratulated the top Grade 12 students and wished for continuous success and progress for them. He also thanked their parents and families for supporting their children, and noted that today they are reaping what they have sown.
