(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KHARTOUM, June 28 (KUNA) -- Around 31 wounded Yemenis have arrived in Merowe Medical City, northern Sudan, via Saudi Arabia to receive medical treatment, official media announced Tuesday.
The batch of Yemeni patients is part of an agreement signed between the Sudanese government, King Salman Center for Humanitarian Aid (KSCHA), and the Sudanese Red Crescent (SRC) to transport the injured and wounded from Yemen to Sudan, Merowe district''s media department said in a press statement.
The wounded Yemenis were transported directly from Riyadh to Merowe International Airport via Saudi Arabian Airlines, where they were received b Merowe District Commissioner Mubarak Shamat.
Earlier, a series of bomb attacks took place in the Yemeni port town of Al-Mukalla that resulted in killing dozens of soldiers and civilians, in addition to wounding several others.
The attacks, carried out by several suicide bombers, have been claimed by the so-called Islamic state (IS). One of the targets was Yemeni police forces deployed in the town. (end) hhi.ma
