Jordan- PM visits National Aid Fund

Amman, June 28 (Petra)--Prime Minister Hani Mulki stressed that addressing the problems of poverty and unemployment is a top government priority as mentioned in the Letter of Designation.

During a visit to the National Aid Fund ( NAF) where he met with its director Basma Ishaqat in the presence of a number of ministers, Mulki highlighted the need for concerted efforts by all concerned departments to help the poor to become productive.

He also urged the NAF and the Labour Ministry to adopt cooperation programs to replace guest workers with poor citizens seeking job opportunities.

Minister of Social Development Khawla Armouti presented a briefing on services offered by the fund, noting that it provides urgent and monthly aid totaling JD93 million to 90,000 Jordanian families.

Director of the fund said that 97 percent of the fund''s budget is spent as aid to beneficiaries.
