Social media users arrested in Bahrain for posting inciting material

MANAMA, 28th June, 2016 (WAM) -- Police in Bahrain have arrested a number of individuals for posting inciting material on social media.

The Bahrain News Agency, BNA, reported that the Director of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security said that the material posted was in violation of the law, and included inflammatory messages which were offensive to others.

The official added that police monitored a number of social media accounts before investigations led to the identity of those involved, and who were later arrested after obtaining an arrest warrant.

The defendants have been referred to the Public Prosecution Department, said BNA.
