BERKELEY, CA. The National Lymphedema Network (NLN) is pleased to announce its 2016 Lymph Science Advocacy Program (LSAP) class. The 2016 class will be among the largest ever, including eight outstanding patient advocates from throughout the US and Canada.

Since 2000, the LSAP has educated patient advocates and leaders about the basic science of lymphedema and related disorders as part of the NLN International Conference. Some 40 participants from the US, Canada, and UK have completed the LSAP training. LSAP graduates hold leadership roles regionally, nationally, and internationally in the field.

Selected candidates are granted the same opportunity as healthcare professionals to attend the conference so that they may make a difference in their distinct ways. The goal of the program is to engage and motivate patient advocates and caregivers to action in issues of treatment and research of the lymphatic system through education and a more comprehensive understanding of the scientific and clinical research aspects of primary and secondary lymphedema and related disorders.

The 2016 Lymph Science Advocacy Program will include:
Elizabeth Blissett, Orlando, Florida
Jennie Carpenter, San Francisco, California
Melissa Driggers, Woodstock, Georgia
Anne-Marie Joncas, Quebec, Canada
Laurie MacFadden Jones, Seattle, Washington
Adie MacKenzie, Nashville, Tennessee
Marian Singer, Gladewater, Texas
Rhonda Christy Smith, Tyler, Texas

The LSAP is integral to supporting the efforts of the NLN and the field of lymphology as a whole. The program is part of the overall 2016 NLN International Conference, planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, NorthShore University HealthSystem, and the National Lymphedema Network.

On March 6, 1988, the NLN was founded with the mission of creating awareness of lymphedema through education and promoting and supporting the availability of quality medical treatment for all individuals at risk for or affected by lymphedema.
