Oman- 13.5% rise in allotment of residential plots

The number of residential plots allotted by the Ministry of Housing increased by 13.5 per cent during the first five months of 2016 to 29,865 compared to 26,310 during the same period last year, according to the latest report by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI). The number of allotted residential plots registered was 3,047 in March, 2,947 in April and 4,326 in May.

The Governorate of Musandam recorded the highest increase in plot allotments at 227, marking a 233.8 per cent rise compared to last year''s 68. The Governorate of North Sharqiyah came second at 2,624 logging a 190.9 per cent increase.

The Governorate of Al Wusta was ranked first among all the governorates for allotting the maximum number of plots during the January-May period at 13,215, an increase of 10.5 per cent compared to 11,961 in 2015.

The Governorate of Dakhliyah saw allotment of the second highest residential plots at 2,983. The Governorate of North Batinah logged a 2.9 per cent fall in allotments at 2,815.

The Governorate of South Sharqiyah recorded a 57.6 per cent rise in the number of allotted plots at 2,399 while the Governorate of Buraimi saw a 45.8 per cent decline at 2,213.

The number of plots issued in the Governorate of South Batinah rose by 28.4 per cent to 1,523, while Muscat recorded a 11.9 per cent increase taking the number of allotted plots to 1,004. In the Governorate of Dhofar, the rise was 78.9 per cent with the corresponding number of plots issued standing at 126. The Governorate of Dhahirah recorded 736 plots constituting a rise of 42.4 per cent compared to 517 in 2015.
