French market continues slide after Brexit vote


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) PARIS, June 27 (KUNA) -- French share prices continued to slide by over 1.0 percent in volatile trading Monday in the wake of the "Brexit" referendum that will take Britain out of the European Union within two years.

The CAC 40 index last Friday ceded almost 9.0 percent on the publication of the Brexit results, before recovering marginally on bargain-hunting, traders at "Boursorama" brokerage said.

Early Monday, premium share prices continued their downward trend, losing 1.09 percent just before midday, with the CAC 40 index quoting at 4,061.89 points and fighting a resistance level at 4,000 points, the brokerage said.

Volume was high at Euros 1.9 billion in less than three hours of trading.

The CAC 40 index has now lost over 12.0 percent since January 1, 2016, with most of the share value disappearing in last Friday''s session. (end) jk.gta
