S. Korea expects Brexit to hardly harm ICT industry

(MENAFN) Given its relatively smaller portion against its overall shipment, South Korea's ICT industry is projected to deal with a limited impact from Britain's departure from the European Union in the short term.

Britain accounts for merely 0.7 percent of South Korea's ICT-related exports, plus the amount of South Korea's direct investment into Britain's ICT sector stood at around USD300 million between 2000 and last year.

However, the shocking Brexit could most certainly have some negative effect and consequence in the long haul if instability in the nation's financial market and weaker investor sentiment are protracted.

Furthermore, South Korea shipped 54 percent of its total ICT export goods to China last year, 14 percent to Southeast Asian nations, 10 percent to North America and 5.9 percent to the European Union.
