ACK wins prestigious award from KOC

(MENAFN- Arab Times) The Australian College of Kuwait's (ACK) "Smoking Awareness Initiative" has won the prestigious Kuwait Oil Company's (KOC) CEO Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) Award 2016. The annual ceremony is hosted by KOC, playing an important role in recognizing some of the most outstanding initiatives in the field of HSSE, with ACK being the only educational institution awarded for its efforts this year.

This is the third time ACK's "Smoking Awareness Initiative" has been recognized. The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative has previously received recognition from Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) during its "Annual CEO HSE Award" event in 2015 and the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) in 2016. As part of the College-wide initiative, students from ACK's Engineering program designed and constructed models to demonstrate the effects of smoking on health and the environment. The models were then handed over to ACK's Business students who prepared activities and presentations for school visits to interact and engage directly with young children and educate them on the harms of smoking.

Representatives of ACK's Smoking Awareness Committee € Advisor to the Chairman Dr Usameh Jamali, Academic Advisor Mrs Rawa Al-Wadani and Business Development Manager Ms Mariam Al-Maraghi € received the award from KOC's CEO Mr Jamal Jaafar.
