Qatar- 68.8% pass secondary school exam

DOHA: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education yesterday announced results of the first round of examinations of the General Secondary School Certificate for the academic year 2015-16.

According to the results, which were endorsed by Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Dr Mohammed bin Abdul Wahed Ali Al Hammadi,(pictured) the success rate in schools reached 68.8 percent.

Around 2,000 students will sit for the second round of exam which will begin from July 24. A total of 11,141 students appeared for the exams.

Success rate in religious institute including preparatory and secondary for boys reached 75 percent while for Qatar Secondary Technical School for boys the success rate reached 75.9 percent. Addressing a press conference, Director of the Evaluation Institute of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Khalid Al Harqan said that success rate in Qatar Secondary School for Banking Business studies for Boys reached 86.7 percent while in adult education success rate reached 17.3 percent. For Qatar Secondary School for Banking Business studies for Boys the success rate was 86.7 percent.

The education minister congratulated the topper Muad Umar Ahmed Mursi Mustafa from Tareq bin Ziyad Secondary Independent School for securing 99.75 percent marks and Fatima Ali Mohmmed Saleh Al Janahi from Al Iman Secondary Independent who secured 98.63 percent — the highest marks among Qatari students.

Ala Laith Murtaza from Amena bint Wahab Secondary Independent School for Girls obtained 99.63 marks. Around 1,300 students secured 90 percent or above marks in the exams while 835 students secured marks in the range of 70-75 percent. The ministry has barred 863 students from appearing in the second round of the exams as they were absent for the secondary exams.

Khalid Al Harqan extended congratulations to outstanding and successful students, and wished them success in their undergraduate studies. He also congratulated the schools that have achieved high levels of excellence, highlighted by the advanced results achieved by Qatari and non-Qatari students.

All successful students will be awarded certificates tomorrow.The Peninsula
