UAE- FNC speaker receives Australian ambassador

ABU DHABI, 26th June 2016 (WAM) --- Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of Federal National Council (FNC), has received Arthur Milton Spiro, Ambassador of Australia to the UAE, who came to congratulate her on becoming the first woman in Arab countries and the whole Middle East to be elected as speaker of a national legislative body, and extend greetings on the occasion of Ramadan.

During their meeting, the pair discussed ways of promoting cooperation as well as the setting up of a parliamentary friendship committee to keep pace with the growth of bilateral relations between the two countries.

The two officials noted that non-oil trade between Australia and the UAE stood at $2 billion in 2015.

They also underlined the importance of aligning positions at the Inter-Parliamentary Union on issues of mutual concern for the two countries.

Al Qubaisi noted that all Emirati authorities, including the leadership, the FNC and the cabinet, work to achieve one goal: serving the people of the UAE.
