Startup Oman, the sultanate''s only online platform created by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs, and Outward Bound Oman (OBO) have partnered to launch the Tajawuz Entrepreneurship Expedition Series.

The series will be made up of four expeditions per year and is focused on challenging entrepreneurial mindsets, stated a press release.

The first expedition will be conducted in Jebel Akhdar from July 12 to 15.

Tajawuz is a three-night, four-day expedition designed and executed by Startup Oman in collaboration with OBO. The programme aims to provide a first-of-its-kind experiential learning experience to Omani entrepreneurs within Oman''s natural environment.

The July 12-15 expedition will take six Omani and three international entrepreneurs to the top of Jebel Akhdar with the goal of exploring their business challenges on top of one of Oman''s landmark mountains, added the release.

Detaching from their businesses will give them the much needed time to identify solutions to their most pressing entrepreneurial challenges.

"We believe entrepreneurs can learn key life skills from Oman''s beautiful but challenging natural environment; skills that are crucial for thriving as an entrepreneur,'' said Ali Daud, chairman of Startup Oman and CEO of Daud Group.

Participants in this expedition will be called upon to demonstrate problem solving, time management, resourcefulness, strong vision, and leadership.

''Partnering with OBO to develop and deliver this groundbreaking programme has been a special privilege,'' added Daud.

The two organisations had already worked together to execute a pilot programme in January 2016 when a group of six Omani entrepreneurs travelled 150km on foot through the desert as part of Oman''s National Day celebrations.

Mark Evans, general manager of OBO said, ''We are delighted to continue and develop our partnership with Startup Oman.

''His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said''s government has identified the importance of, and placed particular emphasis on the development of SMEs in the national economy, and we believe Outward Bound can play a key role in exposing young entrepreneurs to the challenges involved, and provide a platform for coming up with solutions to increase their chances of success.''
