Jordan- Intense heat wave to subside today


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, June 26 (Petra) -- The intense heat wave that has gripped the country over the past week is forecast to gradually subside starting Sunday, to the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) daily brief reported.

Therefore, a slight drop in temperatures is expected Sunday, but they remain 3-5 degrees above their annual average, bringing relatively hot conditions in the high lands, hot in the Badia regions and extremely hot in the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea.

Winds will be northwesterly moderate to brisk blowing dust in the eastern and southern parts of the Kingdom, the JMD added.

Temperatures will gradually drop on Monday and Tuesday to become around their seasonal average; therefore it will be moderate on the hilly areas and hot in other parts of the Kingdom, the JMD added.

Daytime temperatures in the capital for today will reach a high of 35 degrees Celsius and a low of 23 at night, while mercury levels in the Gulf of Aqaba will hit 43 degrees plunging to 30 degrees at night.
