Ban to meet His Highness the Amir of Kuwait on Sunday


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NEW YORK, June 23 (KUNA) -- UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is scheduled this Sunday to travel to Kuwait in a regional official trip, that includes Kuwait, Israel and the State of Palestine.

His spokesperson Staffan Dujarric confirmed, the senior UN official is scheduled to meet with His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

During his one-day visit, the UN Chief will also meet His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah as well as the First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

Since Kuwait is hosting the Yemeni peace talks, Ban will meet with his Special Envoy for Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, as well as the Yemeni parties participating in the UN-facilitated peace talks in Kuwait.

After Kuwait, the UN Chief will head for Israel and the State of Palestine. In Gaza, where he will visit a girls'' school run by United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and participate in a meeting of the Gaza central school parliament. He will also visit a reconstruction project and hold a town hall meeting with UN staff working in Gaza.

Ban will meet with President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah. (end) mao.ibi
