(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors - N.America) CanAlaska Uranium Ltd (CVE:CVV) said diamond specialist de Beers'' had completed sampling at its West Athabasca project in Saskatchewan.
Canalaska and De Beers are exploring for diamonds under a staged $20.4mln option-participation agreement.
De Beers has collected over 100 samples for kimberlite indicator mineral (KIM) processing from glacial gravels within the target area.
These will now be processed in De Beers''s laboratories to establish further evidence for kimberlite intrusives associated with the magnetic anomalies staked by Canalaska.
A second phase of exploration will start in the next few weeks for detailed magnetic mapping of staked targets, as well as any further significant features.
The new high-resolution airborne magnetic survey carried out by a specialised aircraft from New Zealand will define the targets in preparation for drilling.
President of CanAlaska Peter Dasler told investors: "I am very pleased with the significant attention that De Beers is giving our project.
"The initial reconnaissance sampling has been completed, and known targets visited.
"The rapid deployment of this specialised aircraft and the attention to detail with this program is very comforting. I look forward to the results of the programs, and the next steps in the exploration process."
The project covers 75 kimberlite-style targets staked by Canalaska in the northwestern Athabasca basin of Saskatchewan.
De Beers may earn an interest in the project through a series of escalating exploration programmes.
Shares in Toronto were unchanged at C$0.75.
