Iraq PM: Mosul will be liberated from IS before end of 2016


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, June 22 (KUNA) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi said the northern city Mosul will be liberated from the Islamic State (IS) before the end of 2016, praising the recent victory that was achieved by the Iraqi army in Fallujah.

The premier, in a statement on Wednesday, said he had received distress calls from the people who live in Mosul to rescue them from the IS.

The Iraqi army is executing a military operation to retake Qayyarah city southwestern of Mosul in preparation to advance to Mosul.

He asserted that the victory in Fallujah was for all Iraqis, pointing to intensive work secure return of their relocated civilians to their homes. (end) ahh.maj.mar
