(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) LIKE THE REALITY TV landscape, for the last weeks these pages have been awash with youthful, facelifted, dressed-up automobiles. While they''re fun to look at, given it was Father''s Day yesterday, we thought we''d bring you one that the parents may like to drive and in which the children will definitely enjoy being driven.
The QX60 is Infiniti''s latest crossover with a twist - it''s massive. Three rows of seats mean you''re going to be able to carry a litter of kids and that''s what this car is all about. It''s high up, which is what all crossover customers want, but instead of being a scaled down off-roader it''s a beefed up people carrier. Inside is you get the premium Inifiniti finish - TV screens in the headrests, leather seats, quality climate control and all the gizmos you desire from a SUV in this price bracket. The engine is also a typical bit of Nissan magic. The 3.5-litre V6 we tested produced 286 horsepower and did 0-100km/h in just under 8 seconds. For a car this size, that is impressive. The steering is also pretty light and somehow they have managed to make it tighter in the corners than you''d ever have imagined and have minimised body roll if travelling at reasonable speeds. The only problem we had was parking it and driving it on narrow roads. Given the QX60''s girth, we never felt 100 per cent comfortable backing it into a tight space. Maybe we were skittish. The parking assists are great and nothing ever happened. Perhaps with more time with the vehicle it would have become second nature, but off the bat we were a bit jittery. If you''re in the market for this though, that won''t bother you. As a family car, it ticks every box and one you perhaps wouldn''t have thought of - it looks good. SPECS 0-100 km/h: 7.8 seconds
