Kuwait takes part in the 7th session of UNCC review group

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) VIENNA, June 21 (KUNA) -- Agenda of the 7th session of the Implementation Review Group of Conference of States Parties to UN Convention against Corruption, in Vienna on June 20-24, comprises several procedural and substantive items, a Kuwaiti legal official has said.

These include reviewing the implementation of the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCC), and the necessary technical assistance, Assistant Secretary General at the Kuwaiti Anti-Corruption Public Authority Dr. Mohammad Abdulrahman Buzaber told KUNA.

Endorsing the revised self-assessment list of the implementation review of the first and second chapter of the UNCC also features high on the agenda, he added.

The Group held a meeting last Friday, and lots were drawn for the state parties to be reviewed during the second session of the implementation review of the UNCC, as well as the countries to take part in the process.

As a result, Kuwait will be subjected to implementation review by South Korea and Kiribati. The same year, the country, and Lebanon will take part in implementation review of Myanmar, Buzaber said.

In line with the UNCC States Parties resolution 3/1, Kuwait submitted a request to redraw the lot so that the country''s implementation review can be postponed to a following year.

The Kuwaiti official noted that the postponement aims to give Kuwait''s authority, a relative new body, the opportunity and adequate time to prepare the national anti-corruption strategy. (end) amg.msa
