International Yoga Day, 2016 celebrated in Dubai

Thousands of yoga enthusiasts thronged the Dubai World Trade Centre on Saturday to participate in the yoga sessions conducted by popular yoga guru Swami Ramdev.

The event was organised by the Consulate General of India in association with the Dubai Sports Council to mark the International Yoga Day, 2016.

The event commenced with an introduction to yoga, which is an indispensable asset of India''s ancient tradition and embodies the unity of mind and body, action and thought and abstinence and completion as well as harmony between man and nature and happiness. It is a comprehensive approach to health and well-being.

Swami Ramdev kept the participants entertained with his light-hearted comments as he moved from one yogic posture to another. He said that yoga is for all and is not restricted to any religion. Performing a yoga posture, he said that it is similar to a posture in Islamic prayer.

People from different nationalities, religions and age groups were present to learn the yoga techniques from the epitome of the practice, Baba Ramdev, who is also the founder of Patanjali group of institutions.

Patanjali Ayurved was started by Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna ten years ago in Haridwar, Uttarakhand (India).

As of early March 2016, the company''s turnover crossed US$670mnand is cruising at a monthly rate of about US$74mnto US$82mn. Patanjali product distribution will be launched on International Yoga day, June 21, with the distributor office in Ghubrah and Muscat.
