Egypt- Taghrid Khatab: first Arab and African referee


(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) The Dominican Republic and Poland women’s teams earned the honour of participating in the final of the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix 2016 Group 2 on Sunday.

The tournament took place in the Bulgarian city of Varna.

Victory went to the Dominican Republic, with a 3-2 win. The match was full of excitement and lasted for two hours and fifteen minutes.

The first arbitrator who managed the match was Egyptian player Taghrid Khatab, who is considered the first African, Arab, and Egyptian female to become an international referee.

During the semifinals on Saturday, the Dominican team defeated Puerto Rico with a score of 3-1.

In the other match, Poland defeated Bulgaria 3-1.
