DUBAI, 20th June, 2016 (WAM) -- Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has organised a range of activities during the Holy Month of Ramadan at the Reading is Positive Energy exhibition.

These include lectures, seminars, poetry readings, awareness sessions, and other activities. DEWA launched the year-long exhibition last month in collaboration with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation, at Zabeel Park. The move is part of DEWA''s efforts to support the directives of the wise leadership that 2016 is the Year of Reading.

"As a socially-responsible government organisation, DEWA contributes to building a knowledge-based society that supports the vision of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to spread a culture of reading, while establishing the UAE as a capital of content, culture and knowledge, promote Arabic as a language, and encourage reading. This is achieved by making books available to ensure a positive change in society, and raising a cultured generation of readers who contribute to enhancing the country''s cultural development," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA.
