Russia, Iran take small steps to ensure solid ties


(MENAFN) Hundreds of trucks carrying foodstuff from Iran have been dispatched to Russia in the past week, as the Islamic republic made efforts to replace Turkey in the Russian market after Moscow decided to cut trade ties with Ankara.

A total of 500 trucks of food products have been sent to Russia through the border with Azerbaijan Republic, upon the direct export of livestock products' treaty that has been sealed between the two Asian nations.

Furthermore, after Turkey's move to down the Russian Su-24 military aircraft, Moscow forced a set of economic and other sanctions against Turkey, let alone some drastic actions were put into effect instantly.

"Currently, an appropriate opportunity has been created for us in the Russian market with the withdrawal of Turkey, fully supported by the 150-million-strong market Russia has," said the Head of Tehran Chamber of Commerce.
