Referee Boufateen honored


(MENAFN- Arab Times) In a gesture that entails loyalty from Al-Hassawi Family, sponsor of the Late Shamlan Al-Hassawi Tournament Yassen Al-Hassawi and Chairman of the Organizing Committee Abdullateef Al-Hassawi, honored international referee Fadhel Boufateen after his return from a medical trip in the USA.

In his speech, Yassen said he is proud of Boufateen who has been part of the tournament since its inception, indicating the latter has never been absent except last year when he went for the medical trip. He hopes for Boufateen's continuous participation and full recovery.

On the other hand, Boufateen thanked Al-Hassawi Family for this good gesture asserting he is proud of them. He disclosed he feels their love and appreciation while wishing for the continued success of the tournament. Yassen then presented a memento to him.

As for the matches in the ongoing tournament, surprises continued with the win of Dimiyat against Diwaniya Al-Wad'ani 3-1 after a strong match whose first half saw a goal scored by Ahmad Abdulhameed. Al-Wad'ani pressed hard in the second half but missed a lot of chances before Ahmad Abdulhameed scored his second and third goals. Al-Wad'ani scored their only goal through penalty in the late minutes of the match.

Moussa Al-Huzaim versus Dar Al-Muhammadiya was an exciting and tense match which witnessed the heroics of the goalkeeper of Al-Huzaim in saving several dangerous goals and counter attacks. Ali Faridi scored a goal for the lead of Al-Huzaim Team 1-0 in first half.

In the second half, Dar Al-Muhammadiya came strong and pressed wide before professional Rodrigues scored the equalizer. Esenso scored another goal to lead Al-Muhammadiya but Muhammad Yasree scored the equalizer for Al-Huzaim to spark the game into more thrills in the last minutes. Al-Huzaim's goalie was once again the hero as he saved the team in the penalty shoot outs to lead his team 2-1.

The third match was between Muhammad Ali Clay and Merengues. The performance of Muhammad Clay was not as good as in their previous games and the Merengues punished them for that by thwarting them 5-0.
