Qatar- New system to vet student performance


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) DOHA: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education is setting up a system for assessing the performance of students in national and internal tests conducted by schools to enhance performance.

“This system will be in place before the beginning of the next academic year so that school managers would assess the level of weakness and identify areas that need to be developed to raise academic performance”, QNA quoted the Minister of Education and Higher Education,

H E Dr Mohammed bin Abdul Wahed Al Hammadi as saying.

The Minister was speaking at a Ramadan programme “Ghabga” hosted by the ministry for its staff in Al Sharq Hotel. The measures also aim to enhance teachers’ capacities and all aspects of education system relating to the performance of students or curriculum.

The ministry has completed the process of developing the education infrastructure.

In the next phase, the focus will be on the quality and the development of necessary indicators to measure and set up systems to assess and improve performance in all aspects of the educational process, said the Minister. The principals of the independent school who have spent 30 years or more in the education service were honoured at the function.

The Minister revealed a package of initiatives and policies with regard to the early childhood education, adoption of a strategy for strengthening the reading, writing and arithmetic skills of students of all primary schools along with implementation of various initiatives aimed at meeting the needs of students with special needs and students who require additional support.
