UN envoy holds talks with Yemeni gov't delegation in Kuwait


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, June 18 (KUNA) -- The UN Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmad on Saturday held talks with the delegation of the Yemeni government taking part in the Kuwait consultations, that has been in progress since April 21.

The session discussed practical ideas and proposals on the major issues of the coming period and the mechanisms necessary to bridge differences over the political, humanitarian, and economic aspects of the period.

They focused on withdrawals, weapons hand-over and restoring state institutions, in a way that guarantees concluding a comprehensive and peaceful solution to the Yemeni crisis in line with the acknowledged international references, especially the UN Security Council resolution 2216, the GCC Initiative, its Implementation Mechanism and the outcome of Yemen''s National Dialogue.

On Thursday, Ould Cheikh Ahmad chaired a session of talks for the delegations of the Government of Yemen, Ansarullah movement and the General People''s Congress. (end) om.msa
