Oman- Social worker receives warm farewell

Well-known social worker, Premanand Edacheri, former president of Payyanur Sauhrudha Vedhi (PSV) Muscat, a cultural and philanthropic circle in Oman, was given a warm and touching farewell as he is bidding adieu to his 14 yearlong expat life in Oman in a function held at Crystal Suites Auditorium, Wadi Kabir recently by PSV.

He has been working as lecturer in Nizwa College of Technology for seven years. Before that he served in the Ministry of Education, Oman in Bahla, another seven years as English teacher. Premanand has been on long leave from the teaching post in higher secondary department under the Government of Kerala. He is bidding farewell to Oman since he is to rejoin his job in Kerala. Premanand has recently received the Shiksha Jnanam Award for his meritorious service in the field of philanthropic activities carried out under his leadership in Oman and Kerala. He is also the convenor of Nizwa Malayali Community.

The farewell function was attended by the first secretary of embassy of India, Amararam Gujar IFS as the chief guest. ISC Malayalam Wing convenor G K Karanavar, former ISC convener T Bhaskaran, Tony Alexander, director Oman UAE Exchange, Shankara Pillai, Ajaya Menon, Lal Sam, Roopesh, Dr George, Usha George and CS Payyanur spoke on the occasion

Babu Puravankara chaired the function and Mohanan Kodakkad welcomed the special guests and other participants.

Various cultural programmes were also staged by PSV artists on the occasion.
