The envoy reviewed the tragic situation in Yemen that left 7,000 killed, 35,000 injured and 3 million people homeless and displaced within one year, saying that the situation in Yemen is dangerous.

He stressed that the cessation of hostilities in Yemen which took effect in April contributed to the improvement of the humanitarian situation by the return of relief organizations to work.

Ould Cheikh emphasised that reaching peace in Yemen will be only through political process, adding that the ceasefire takes a long time and a great effort, but he stressed that there is no return to Yemen without peace which is important for regional security.
