Rome, Ramadan 10, 1437, Jun 15, 2016, SPA -- Italian public sector employees caught skiving off work will be suspended within 48 hours and fired within a month, according
to a new law adopted Wednesday following a string of highly-publicized scandals, dpa reported.
"The gravy train is finished, people who do this are committing fraud against the state and so they will have to pack their things and go home: they will be fired, in a tough but fair way," Prime Minister Matteo Renzi said after a cabinet meeting in Rome.
He referred to an infamous case in Sanremo, a northern beach resort where police found out in October that 75 per cent of council workers would clock in for work and then disappear for the day.
