Two men in UAE jailed for joining Daesh

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The State Security Circuit of the Supreme Federal Court on Monday condemned two Somalis to five years each in jail on charges of joining Daesh.
The two Somalis - identified as Ali Mahmoud Ali and Abdulrahman Mahmoud Ali - worked for a petroleum company, and were convicted of creating and running accounts on social media websites to promote the ideologies of terror outfits such as Al Qaeda and Daesh as well as others of radical ideologies. The duo posted false information about the UAE, its foreign policy and offended the country''s symbols. They also invited people to join the terror groups. The court also ordered the websites and e-accounts they created be shut down. Al Nusra Front case For Al Nusra Front case where six suspects - one Palestinian, two Jordanians, a Syrian, an American of Arab descent, and a Belgian of Arab descent - are accused, the court condemned 22-year-old Syrian Fadel Abdulqadir Saleh to five years in jail and deportation after his jail term. The court in the same case handed down one year in jail and deportation against the following suspects - 6 months jail for 14 The court sentenced 14 suspects in the Yemeni Muslim Brotherhood''s branch in the UAE to six months each in jail to be followed by deportation after they serve their jail term. The court ordered four other suspects - all Emirati - in the same case to serve three years each in jail. However, the court found another suspect, Tariq Hassan Hussain Al Qasim, not guilty and cleared him of the charge against him. 21-year-old American Talal Abdudalila Darbas; 23-year-old Jordanian Mohammed Ghazi Mohammed Abdullah; 22-year-old Palestinian Mohammed Munzer Sami Saeed; and 23-year-old Belgian Abdulrahman Mazin Qani. 22-year-old Jordanian Mohammed Essam Abd Salamah, was awarded a year and three months imprisonment for possessing a firearm. The court ordered the electronic devices, tools, cameras found with the suspects when committing the crime to be seized. Case postponed The court also looked into a case in which Emirati A.S.A is accused of offending the Federal National Council and its members as well as the election scheme of the FNC. He shot the offensive video clip and posed it on YouTube. The court postponed the case to June 20, 2016, so that the psychiatrist who prepared the medical report to explain the mental state of the accused, could appear and give his testimony before court.
