UAE- Portuguese Business Council team visits SAIF Zone

SHARJAH, 13th June, 2016 (WAM) -- A delegation from the Portuguese Business Council in Dubai recently visited Sharjah Airport International Free Zone, SAIF Zone, to identify possible investment opportunities and cement their trade relationships with the free zone.

The delegation, led by Caetano Leitao, was received by Raed Bukhatir, Deputy Director of Business Development at SAIF Zone.

During the meeting, Bukhatir elaborated on the features and facilities of the SAIF Zone to the delegation. Leitao said that many Portuguese companies want to set up business in SAIF Zone.

Saud Salim Al Mazrouei, Director of Hamriyah Free Zone and SAIF Zone, expressed his happiness over the visit, and said that this is result of SAIF Zone''s recent promotional tours to the Portuguese cities of Porto and Lisbon. He also mentioned that SAIF Zone had recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the Portuguese Industrial Association - Chamber of Commerce and Industry, AIP-CCI, to promote investment and trade.

"This visit will help the Portuguese Business Council to get closer to the varied opportunities available here. With its excellent infrastructure and modern facilities, SAIF Zone is the ideal gateway for new business opportunities," said Al Mazrouei, while inviting Portuguese companies to Sharjah Airport Free Zone.

Currently over 18 companies from Portugal are operating from SAIF Zone. In total, the zone has over 7,000 companies which carry out varied business activities such as light to medium manufacturing, trading and provide services like IT and consultancy.
