UAE- 50 unlicensed bikes seized in Sharjah

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Sharjah Police have seized 50 unlicensed motorbikes which caused disturbance and chaos on the roads as part of its inspection and awareness campaign aimed at controlling the traffic during the holy month of Ramadan.

Abdullah Rashid, head of Sharjah Industrial Area police stations, said that the inspection carried out in all industrial areas as it has been noticed that there were large number of unlicensed motorbikes which involved in accidents.

The police urged the motorbike riders to use helmet and other safety equipment. They were also told to follow traffic rules and avoid riding in the wrong direction of traffic. The official said most of the riders were Asians and some of them used the bike for food delivery while others use it as transportation means. Motorbikes were involved in many fatal accidents during the last two years and caused serious injuries to many, he said.
