Qatar- Nigerian Army Kills 10 Boko Haram Militants


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Abuja, June 11 (QNA) - The Nigerian army killed 10 militants of the Boko Haram group and rescued a kidnapped mother and her baby in northern Nigeria, a spokesman for the army said Saturday.
Two further insurgents were arrested during the same operation in the Gamboru Ngala local government area in Borno State on Friday, according to spokesman Sani Usman.
The troops recovered numerous arms and ammunition as well as material to build explosives from the terrorists, Usman added.
Boko Haram poses a steady threat to communities in the north-east of Nigeria and has also launched offensives in neighboring Chad, Niger and Cameroon.
Since 2009, at least 14,000 people have died at the hands of militants in Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon and Niger.
According to the United Nations, an estimated 2.7 million people in the region have fled their homes due to Boko Haram. (QNA)
