Qatar- Joint crackdown on food outlets


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) DOHA: Al Wakrah Municipality has set up a special work team to launch a joint inspection campaign during Ramadan at all food outlets that fall under its jurisdiction.

The municipality held a coordination meeting with several competent authorities to launch a massive crackdown on food outlets violating health regulations.

The work team comprises municipal officials, representatives from the Ministry of Economy and Commerce and police officers from North Security Department at the Ministry of Interior.

The health monitoring unit at the municipality has already intensified inspection campaigns on food outlets since the beginning of Ramadan, Qatar News Agency reports.

Meanwhile, health monitoring inspectors of Doha Municipality are carrying out an intensified inspection campaign on eateries, cafeteria, sweets and dry fruits shops to ensure that they comply with health regulations.

The health monitoring unit at Umm Salal Municipality conducted 60 inspections last month at food outlets. Several outlets were closed for violating health rules.

The unit for monitoring beauty salons made 30 surprise raids while inspectors from technical monitoring unit conducted 112 inspections at commercial outlets.
