Qatar- Services under one roof at new surgery centre
(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani is briefed on the centre’s services in the presence of Minister of Public Health H E Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari and other officials.
DOHA: Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani yesterday opened the Integrated Surgery Centre at Hamad General Hospital (HGH) which brings diversified surgical technology and services under one roof.
The facility will expand surgical services at HGH and help provide better care to patients, especially accident victims and trauma patients.
Minister of Public Health H E Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari and senior officials of Hamad Medical Corporation attended the opening ceremony. The Premier toured the centre and was briefed on healthcare services, modern devices, operation rooms, intensive care units, CT and MRI rooms and EEG Laboratory. Built on an area of 10,000 square metres, the facility includes 20 operation rooms equipped with cutting-edge technology. It also has two intensive care units for accidents injuries and surgery, QNA reports.
The Premier was also briefed by doctors and HMC officials on the medical possibilities offered by the centre.
A senior HMC official recently said the new building will be equipped with a dual rooftop helipad to facilitate patients and accident victims brought by the ambulance helicopter service. It also features trauma intensive care and surgical intensive care units. The new building is part of HMC’s master plan, which aims to expand and build new facilities by 2030.
The centre will integrate with HGH’s facilities and other planned developments for the adjacent Emergency Department to facilitate rapid transfer of emergency patients. According to official data, HMC’s Ambulance Service receives an average of 300 calls daily, 80 percent of which are related with medical and trauma emergencies.
