Oman- Reports of less fasting hours in Wekan false: MARA

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat-

The Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs (MARA) has called untrue reports doing rounds on social media that Wekan village in Nakhl has only three hours of Ramadan fasting.

Wekan, located around 150km from Muscat, has very ''short'' days, with the sun rising at 11am and setting at around 2.30pm.

''Failure to see the sun in some mountainous areas doesn''t mean that the sun has not risen. So, there is no question of people fasting only three hours,'' a MARA official told Muscat Daily. The village is nearly 2,000m above sea level and is accessible only by 4WDs.
