Oman- Nissan Altima 2017 comes with innovative features

The new 2017 Nissan Altima redesigned with innovative technologies was unveiled in Oman recently.

Nissan Oman, from the house of Suhail Bahwan Automobiles (SBA), revealed the new model and it is currently available across all showrooms.
Nissan Altima 2017 comes with a fresh new appearance including the ''Energetic Flow'' exterior styling theme and ''Gliding Wing'' interior layout, ''Class Leading Fuel Economy'' and ''Improved Driving Dynamics and Safety Technology''.

Expressing delight on the launch, a senior official of SBA in Oman said, ''The re-engineered Altima 2017 is poised to become the new benchmark in the hotly contested mid-size segment. This game-changing model will raise segment standards to new highs with its upscale styling, class-above features and globally recognized levels of safety.''

Samir Cherfan, managing director of Nissan Middle East said, ''We are excited to launch the 2017 Nissan Altima which compliments Nissan''s range of innovative, exciting cars and represents Nissan''s vision for the design of the modern passenger car.''

''The Altima is a popular car in the region and globally, and the new design elements add to the overall appeal of its reliability and features,'' he added.

New energetic flow design

The front end of the 2017 Altima offers the most dramatic change with its energetic flow design, since all panels and pieces forward of the A-pillars are new fascia, bumper, fenders, hood and lights.

Two key elements are the redesigned V-Motion grille and boomerang-shaped headlights, similar to those found on the Maxima. The look is dramatically different from the 2016 Altima design, with a wide, deeply sculpted lower bumper, integrated fog lights (2.5SV, 2.5SL, and 3.5SL models) and prominent chrome-trimmed grille.

The reshaped headlight units incorporate halogen high beam and projector low beam lights. LED projector low beam lights and LED signature Daytime Running Lights that sweep into the wide raised hood (available only on 3.5L SL grade).

The rear of the new Altima is marked by a new sculpted bumper with a dark lower accent, a new trunk lid and lower, wider boomerang-shaped combination lights that help provide a more expressive, higher quality appearance when approaching the vehicle from behind.

The four-piece combination lights incorporate the tail and stop lights, turn lamps and backup lights.

Nissan committed to adding value, incorporated customer''s feedback and added comfort features such as the standard Zero Gravity front seats, which have been reshaped. The woven cloth seating and door panel materials feature a more open weave pattern, providing a premium look and feel throughout the Altima interior. Twin cup holders on the center console now accommodate mug handles in response to customer input.

The already extensive Altima colour palette for 2017 includes Java Metallic, Brilliant Silver, Gun Metallic, Super Black, Cayenne Red and Pearl White and a new 17-inch machine-finish aluminium-alloy wheel designs.

Improved drive dynamics

Along with the revised appearance, The X-Tronic D-Step CVT equipped in the new Nissan Altima is among the quietest in its segment. Altima has also improved in its coefficient of drag to 0.26 Cd from the previous 0.29 Cd (currently similar to the GT-R).
The changes come from the addition of an active grille shutter (three per cent gain), underfloor aero cover additions (three per cent) and the new front and rear fascia and windshield designs (four per cent). All of this defines into being best-in-class with standard fuel economy of 17.7kmpl.

Latest active safety and technology

The Altima have stepped up the safety technology by adding its first-in-class Predictive Forward Collision Warning (PFCW), the Blind Spot Warning (BSW). Forward Emergency Braking (FEB), and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).

The new steering has been reshaped and tuned to provide real time road input and precision (available only on SL grades).

The 2017 Altima''s refined interior design follows the new ''Gliding Wing'' design language. Central to the new look is the revised C-stack with available 5.0-inch and 7.0-inch displays for the navigation with mobile apps. Finishing off with the Acoustic windshield that provides a new level of cabin isolation and quietness. In Oman, Nissan Altima 2017 is offered in 2.5l variants (S, SV and SL).

Remote engine starter

Nissan vehicles are known to offer smoother ride comfort, more refinement and benchmark fit and finish, while delivering breathtaking performance and road-holding.

Their ''multi-dimensional performance'' means the driver can enjoy the full depth of a Nissan''s capabilities whether navigating the corners of a winding mountain road, cruising on a motorway or even travelling in an urban environment.

The Altima comes with the Nissan Intelligent Key that allows the owners to drive in comfort and style regardless of the rising temperatures in the sultanate. The Nissan Intelligent Key allows drivers with a tap of a button on the door handle or trunk to unlock them, while the keys stay inside a pocket or purse.

Drivers can start a car from up to 60m away with the Remote Engine Start System. This convenient solution lets drivers cool down the vehicle before it''s time to get in, provided they set the climate control functions when they step out.

With vehicles facing the brunt of the scorching heat nowadays, drivers are faced with extreme driving conditions. By using the Remote Engine Starter, drivers can get the car engine running and activate the cooling before they step inside. That gives them the opportunity to stay indoors until the car is ready to drive.

This can be particularly handy if drivers have young children and babies, or anyone else that is very sensitive to extreme temperatures.

Standard tyre pressure monitoring system

Smart technologies are designed to help monitor conditions like a warning to let the driver know about straying lane, or a system that helps ensure they are travelling on properly inflated tyres.

Standard Tyre Pressure Monitoring System with Easy-Fill Tyre Alert lets drivers know when a tyre is low and the Easy-Fill Tyre Alert takes the guesswork out of filling tyres with a beep of the horn when they have reached the correct pressure.

Best-in-class seat comfort

In the desire to help reduce the fatigue experienced during long commutes or extended road trips, Nissan turned to seating and posture from zero-gravity research. According to this research, the least fatiguing seats are those that come closest to a ''neutral posture'' a relaxed position that the human body takes in a weightless environment.

Altima seats help reduce muscular and spinal loads, and improve blood flow thereby helping reduce fatigue over long periods behind the wheel. Seat surface perforations provide increased ventilation, breathability and comfort.

Along with premium seat comfort, the all-new Altima offers superior quietness through efforts to reduce cabin noise coming from the powertrain (new engine and exhaust mount designs), climate system (increased HVAC mounting rigidity) and the body (increased body rigidity) versus the previous Altima design.

New noise absorption materials with a 30 per cent increase in absorption capability (versus previous Altima) are also used throughout the cabin, including areas such as the roof trim, instrument panel and floor mats.

Altima''s Remote Engine Start gives the driver the power to start the car engine and switch on the AC from as far as 60m. With it, vehicle owners can also lock or unlock doors, and open the trunk. Coupled with plush interiors and revolutionary technologies like Push Button Ignition, Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control and more, the Nissan Altima is designed to give passengers a comfortable driving experience that''s simply out of the world.

An attractive multimedia package

The Altima audio system includes an AM/FM/CD design with RDS, MP3, and six speakers. A Bose Premium Audio System is available with nine speakers (including woofers), designed in collaboration with Bose engineers to deliver a richer sound and acoustics experience.

Three connectivity levels are offered to passengers including USB for iPod and compatible devices, aux-input and a Bluetooth streaming audio and hands-free phone connectivity.

The navigation system is similarly packed with a rich range of features and is incredibly easy to use with its 7.0-inch touch-screen, 3D-effect map views and turn-by-turn navigation integrated into the Advanced Drive-Assist Display.

The new Advanced Drive-Assist Display comes standard on every model and is customisable, easy-to-use and integrates key information right in front of the driver.

Dynamic driving performance

Building on Altima''s reputation for superior dynamic performance, the Altima offers a redefined multi-link rear suspension benchmarked to leading European sports sedans.

Responsive steering is provided by a new Electronic Hydraulic Power-Assisted Steering (EHPS) system that preserves the feel of hydraulic steering rack while offering the efficiencies of an electric power steering set-up.

Nissan Altima''s four-wheel power-assisted disc brake system was also re-engineered utilising human ergonomic studies to optimise pedal travel and force, providing a premium blend of immediate response, confident braking and reduced fatigue. Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) are standard.
