Iran's cement outbound shipments hits 15m tons
(MENAFN) Iran exported more than 15 million tons of cement throughout the year to March-19, as over 25pct of 60 million tons of locally produced cement were sold in the global market last year.
The figure, however, reveals a declining trend from the figure for 2014 when the Islamic Republic ranked fourth among cement and clinker producers in the world with an overall production of 70 million tons.
Nonetheless, the Persian Gulf nation is currently working very hard to increase cement production from the current nominal capacity to 120 million tons within the following 10 years.
Iran ships out cement to some two dozen countries including Iraq, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Pakistan, Qatar, Turkey, the UAE, Georgia, Oman, India and China.
