Total faces deadline in Azadegan oilfield's deal

(MENAFN) France's Total is expected to present its technical bid for the development of Iran's South Azadegan oilfield within six months, according to top Iranian official.

An initial memorandum of understanding (MoU) has already been inked with the French oil giant on the development of South Azadegan oilfield though it does not constitute a final contract.

Many key European and Asian firms have voiced interest in developing the oilfield and said, thus the signing of a MoU would not give Total a higher priority for carrying out the project.

However, S. Azadegan's 1st phase is being applied using 18 Iranian drilling rigs, so talks with European and Asian firms mainly pertain to the development of the 2nd phase of the joint oilfield.
