Doha: Qatar International Golf Club’s (QIGC) Deputy General Manager, Mohamed Al Naimi, was among four GCC nationals who completed the Club Managers Association of Europe’s (CMAE) Management Development Programme Part 1, recently.

The course was attended by 34 delegates from across the GCC, Asia and Europe, all embarking on the Club Management education path which aims to help club managers better secure the continued success of their clubs.

After completing the course, Al Naimi, Deputy General Manager, QIGC said: “It has been an extremely valuable learning experience to take part in a programme that is recognised globally for enhancing and developing the professionalism of club management. At Qatar International Golf Club we strive to provide the highest level of quality, starting with the internal management and staff which will in turn filter down through the golf club and provide a world-class facility for our members.

“It has been even more rewarding to be one of the first Qatari members to take part in the programme,” he added.

The week long programme which took place from May 29 to June 2, 2016 saw spokespersons Mike Braidwood, Darshan Singh and Jason Koenigsfeld educating and informing delegates on standardising best practices in golf clubs across the world, including the 10 core competencies of a modern club manager such as Club Governance:

Strategy & Leadership, Risk Management and Facilities Management. Dubai Golf’s Chief Executive Christopher May CCM commented: “We are delighted to see the huge interest in the first CMAE Management Development Programme to be held in the Middle East. It is the largest MDP 1 course held anywhere to date, with delegates from Europe,”

Mike Braidwood, Director of Education, CMAE, added: “CMAE started the Management development programme in Europe in 2011. To bring the programme to Dubai has been a long term plan of the Association and the response has been phenomenal with 34 delegates signing up - this is a record for CMAE and just shows the appetite amongst the club industry in the Middle East for high level education.”

QIGC is a landmark project for Qatar and the world of golf, offering a revolutionary and holistic approach to growing the game of golf. The innovative facility, which will be located in Qatar Education City, has been designed to support every member of society regardless of age or ability – from complete beginners to the world’s leading professionals – and focuses on accessibility and enjoyment.
