Turkey hits PKK targets in Diyarbakr, northern Iraq


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Turkish jets have conducted airstrikes against outlawedKurdistan Workers’ Party(PKK) targets in the southeastern province ofDiyarbakrand northern Iraq on June 6.

Turkish warplanes hit a group ofPKKmembers in the Lice district ofDiyarbakrafter evaluating the intelligence received, according to security sources. The number of casualties suffered by the group in the strike is as yet unknown.

Another air operation was carried out in the Hakurk region of northern Iraq between 11:05 p.m. and 11:55 p.m.

The army destroyed several targets of the outlawed group in the raid, according to a statement released by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), adding that damage assessment efforts in the area are ongoing and the jets that took part in the operation have returned to their bases in Turkey.
