DUBAI, 7th June, 2016 (WAM) -- Dubai Customs and the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation, UAE SARF, has sealed a partnership agreement setting Dubai Customs as Host Sponsor of the much-anticipated Silver Anniversary Dubai to Muscat Yacht Race, 2016.

The agreement was signed by Sheikh Khaled Zayed Saqr Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Federation, and Ahmed Obaid Al Falasi, Executive Director of HR, Finance and Administration Division of Dubai Customs, at the Umm Suqeim Fishing Harbour.

Sheikh Khaled Zayed Saqr Al Nahyan, Chairman of the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation, said, "We are very happy that once again Dubai Customs will be hosting the prestigious Dubai to Muscat Silver Anniversary race at Umm Suqueim 1 Fishing harbour. Their commitment to the maritime and marine industries is exemplary. The Fishing Harbour will act as a race village and will host the visiting boats, with the parade of boats leaving from the Fishing Harbour and Dubai Offshore Sailing Club Marina. They will also host a number of exciting activities and the education programme, facilitated by Gems Education, from 10th to the 15th of November. We would like to thank Dubai Customs for their participation and the support they continue to bring."

Al Falasi was enthusiastic about the new partnership stuck between DC and UAE SARF. He said, "We are very excited that Dubai Customs is one of the key sponsors of the Dubai to Muscat Race 2016. This year, the race marks its 25th silver anniversary and is expected to be the most exciting edition so far with more activities added to its agenda."

According to Al Falasi, Dubai Customs will take part in the educational programme, to be organised alongside the race at the Umm Suqeim Fishing Harbour, for school students, to teach them about meteorology, navigation, nutrition, endurance, GPS and tactical thinking.

"We will make available all the requirements to make the activities that will take place between September and November 2016 and will target school students, the community and anyone who is particularly interested in water sports, a resounding success.

"Dubai Customs and the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation enjoy a long-standing synergy, as we were also one of the key sponsors of the 24th Dubai to Muscat Race. The name of Dubai Customs is historically linked to the sea, and we are keen on promoting the culture of marine sports in Dubai," said Al Falasi.
